MedCoast supports Swedish-Norwegian collaboration within the field of Marine Innovation. The cluster of marin innovation -combining research, public and private sectors - is served through the organisation MareLife in Norway and MareNovum in Sweden. The two organisations are managing joint projects.

MARELIFE
MareLife is a Bio-marine member association mobilising trendsetters along the entire value chain; addressing branch-wide challenges and potentials and gathers all major bio-marine branches: Fisheries, Aquaculture and Marine compounds.

MareLife acts in several major ways

  • Projects: Facilitates collaboration between members on common research projects and challenges too big to be handled by individual players
  • Commercialization: Assists in commercialization of ideas and inventions
  • Public financial framework: Optimizing public frameworks for marine research and innovation
  • Communication: Communicates its efforts to build reputation of trust for the sector and to extend its network

MARENOVUM
mare novum is a new Swedish Centre for development of marine innovations. It is a partnership between the University of Gothenburg and the five northern coast municipalities in Bohuslän; Strömstad, Tanum, Sotenäs, Munkedal och Lysekil.

Mare novum focuses on

  • providing counselling support for development of research-based innovations and business projects focusing on marine applications
  •  acting as a gate for industry and others to the academic world and has an extensive network with research institutions both within Sweden and abroad.
  • mediating cooperation's between industry and others e.g. in joint R&D programs, arranging forum for discussions and seminars in relevant topics and support in commercialisation of innovative ideas.
